AUNTY SUE OTTOMAN

This decorative square ottoman features an intricate floral design and is wrapped up in organic cotton upholstery for added strength and durability. This upcycled ottoman can be used as a footstool, an extra seat, or a decorative accent.

The original ottoman’s frame and foam were in perfect condition and have been fully reused. The black PU leather has been replaced with brand new cotton fabric. The fabric pattern is by a talented Australian artist Lauren from Thistle and Fox. Read more about Lauren here. 

The fabric is printed in Melbourne by Next State Print. I chose this printer because of their Direct digital printing. In this process, water-based pigment ink is directly transferred onto the fabric and bonded to the fiber by heat and pressure. Unlike other forms of printing, such as digital and screen, pigment ink utilizes no water and leaves no waste ink during the printing process. The focus is on minimizing wastage. The fabric is printed to order, meaning only what is ordered is printed—no waste on rolls and rolls of fabric waiting to be purchased and used.
