SATURDAY BRUNCH STOOL

I got this bar stool from Reema, the lady who runs White Mica. Same lady and business where I buy all my mineral paints. She found the footstool on the street and was sitting in her shop.

The whole frame was in good shape - only the upholstered seat needed a complete replacement. Initially, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it. I knew I wanted to do something new and different. So I got a handmade iron-on patch from Portugal and fabric from Bev’s Remnant in Surry hills. Usually, this fabric is expensive, but it was a factory run out, so I got it cheaper. It is a delicate but thick black satin fabric.

It was a messy job to sand and smoothen the surface as the original surface was very uneven with dried paint drops all around. Once done, I painted it with Black mineral paint from Fusion. I was a bit uneasy applying it as I’ve never used black paint before, but the result was stunning. I finished the surface with clear matte varnish.
